Baby Clothing Club

Being a recent father I have come to find out how expensive having a baby can be. You have to buy clothes, diapers, baby food, toys, learning tools, some parents have to buy formula and so on. One of my Ideas is a Baby Clothing Club, which would have the following:

-Bulk buying for food, especially formula.

-Clothing

-Diapers

-Rentable learning tools

-High chairs

-Ect...

As a member of the club you could take out whatever clothes you would like and return them when you are done with them. Then we would offer discount pricing on accessories and anything that people would like to buy from the list above. High chairs would be loaned out and fun learning tools could be used as well. Everything would be included in the initial fee.

Homeaway! Another business already there.

I have friends that have vacation homes in different parts of the country, but they are not always there. Hence the "vacation" part. To me it seemed like a waste of money to have a house sit there with no one in it for long periods of time. Why not rent it out when you are not there? A website could host the search for vacation houses to rent. Especially now in down economic times a vacation house is perfect for a family. It would be cheaper than a hotel and more private. Well... it is already here.

Homeaway is a website I just heard about today. I am so excited for this company. They have a lot of growth potential and I am excited to see where they go with their website. A vacation homeowner can go on and post their home for $299 per year, which can be recouped quickly. Take some time to go on and surf around on their website. They have sample rental contracts, seminars, how to rent your home guides, and many more resources. A little extra income never hurt anyone. :)

Radio Frequency IDentification(RFID)

I am taking a class at MTSU for my MBA called Operation Management. In this class we talk mostly about manufacturing companies, but every once in a while we get to talk about retail and service businesses. Recently we were talking about Wal-Mart and how they are looking to use Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) technology to help with their inventory control and make things more convenient for consumers. Basically a RFID chip emits a signal to a reader which can be used for different purposes

RFID technology is used in many different ways. Here are a couple websites that talk about some of its uses:
The reason I write about this is because I had a business idea a while back that would use blue tooth technology to help consumers and retailers. As you go through a store putting things in a cart the blue tooth would be able to calculate how much you are going to spend right in front of you. Then as you check out you do not have to go through a checkout line. You just swipe your card and go. It would make things so much easier. this is exactly what Wal-Mart is trying to do. They want to use it for inventory counting, distributing, and consumer ease. However, they are using the RFID chips instead of using blue tooth. It is much cheaper. I guess that is why they are the worlds largest retailer...and I am not!

Business Idea #1

Well... I think I am going to start things off a little slow and work my way up. Here is a business idea I thought about a long time ago. It is lacking a lot and could be potentially very expensive. My family in Utah tends to like very different types of food with very different price ranges. Because of this it is really hard to get everyone out to eat when Danielle, Caleb, and I go to visit. Though I thought about this business idea before we moved to Tennessee it still has application.

Actually...I was walking through the mall and came to the food court. First of all why is it called a "food court". There is nothing in there that looks like a court:
Anyway, as I was saying. What about an upscale version of a food court? This would have servers and hostesses to make it an enjoyable experience and it would be a free standing building. When you walk in you get a menu of your choice and the waiter takes your order to whatever kitchen you would like. How awesome would that be? It is a little stretch, and weak for a first business idea on my blog but that is how I wanted to start.
